Our Flower Shop in Folkestone Kent
As the owner of Wild for Flowers I would like to give you a small insight to how the business came about. I gained my degree in Fine Art as a mature student but have spent my working life in retail. I have worked mainly in car sales, which may seem a million miles away from floristry but has been a really great platform to learn about marketing, customer care and product presentation. Although I had enjoyed my time in the corporate world I felt that I would like to cultivate my more creative side, so one evening early in 2005 over a glass or two of red wine (and feeling very creative!) the concept of Wild for Flowers was born.
The original shop was opened in the Old High Street in May 2005 and quickly gained popularity locally, even appearing in the Times newspaper’s ‘Bricks and Mortar’ section . During the same year we were the proud winners of several business awards including Channel Chamber of Commerce “The one to Watch” in 2005, winners of 2006 and runners up in 2007.
We grew out of our shop and so changed location and now occupy a much larger shop in Cheriton Place in Folkestone.
Our lovely and tremendously talented florists all have formal qualifications in floristry as well as a wealth of experience gained from working in our shop and at local venues.
My aim was, and still is, to provide a high quality product at a reasonable price and I have carefully chosen suppliers who share that vision.
Our flowers are supplied by the Dutch group Metz who deliver direct to our shop during the night, allowing us to start the day as fresh as our flowers, without the rigours of going to market. The Dutch growers are renowned for the high quality of their flowers and use sustainable methods.
We have become known particularly for our wedding work and have supplied wedding couples from all over the world who have decided to get married in our wonderful county of Kent. Each wedding is individually designed, from traditional to exotic, starting with a consultation with one of our florists. This enables the florist who will be assigned to the wedding to talk directly with the bride and groom, ensuring a one-to-one relationship and that each wedding reflects perfectly the style that the couple wish.
Consultations are also offered for christenings, parties, wakes and funerals. The florist that carries out the consultation will be the one who creates the designs.
Although Wild for Flowers remains predominantly a florist shop we have responded to our clients requests to stock gifts and interiors products too.
Included in our gift selection are beautiful, flower inspired bath-time goodies from Bath House, all made from natural ingredients with their products designed, made and hand finished in the UK. The collections include ranges fragranced with crisp floral notes of cut stems, white tea and rose, jasmine and mandarin.
The Flower Stork’s award winning baby clothes bouquets provide a unique and practical gift to welcome a new baby and congratulate the new parents, hand- made in the UK with 100% cotton clothing and available in Pink, White or Blue.
Gifts for your home - vases, jugs, dishes, candles, lanterns, lamps, limited prints by local artists and even furniture (new and renovated) are displayed in both of our shops. We hope that we can offer some inspiration.
And to make life a little easier we are able to gift wrap and deliver for you. Deliveries can be made locally to the recipient or to the home or workplace of the sender (if you would like to deliver your gift personally).
Please call in and see us.
